Purpose & Objectives



The purpose of CORA is to establish and maintain national standards and processes for the regulation and education of dental prosthetists and dental technicians within Australia and New Zealand.

The objectives of CORA are to advise and recommend to any state or territory regulating authority for dental prosthetists and dental technicians including:

  • Recommendations for the establishment of national standards for regulation of dental prosthetists and dental technicians;
  • Recommendations for establishment of national standards for dental prosthetists and dental technicians premises and dental laboratories;
  • Consultation with and provision of advice to relevant state, territory and federal agencies on national competency standards and associated qualifications, for dental prosthetists and dental technicians;
  • Industry accreditation for those courses;
  • Facilitation of mutual recognition stanrds within the trans-Tasman area
  • Consultation with and provision of advice to registration boards with regard to assessments for person trained as dental prosthetists and dental technicians outside the trans-Tasman area;
  • Establishment and maintenance of a national data base relating to these objects;
  • Consultation with and provision of policy advice to state, territory and federal governments on regulation and associated matters related to dental prosthetists and dental technicians;
  • Consultation with and provision of policy advice to organisations representing dental prosthetists, dentistry, dental technicians and the general public on issues relating to dental prosthetics and dental technology.
